Self-Realization

For one’s own liberation

Meditation as taught by an ácárya, practised morning and evening; the conduct of Yama and Niyama; and the steady work of turning the mind from what passes to what does not. It is personal, and it is free — meditation has never been sold.

Jagaddhitáya Ca

Service to All

And for the welfare of the world

Schools, clinics, relief teams, children’s homes, animal rescue, master units. Not charity performed from above, but service understood as practice — the same practice, turned outward.

Neither wing carries the bird alone. Meditation without service turns inward on itself; service without meditation exhausts the server.

Collective kiirtan gathering of Ánanda Márga practitioners

What we actually do

Together, and then alone

A margii sits for meditation twice a day, alone. Once a week they sit with others — Dharma Cakra — and sing kiirtan before they sit. The collective practice is not decoration around the private one; it is what keeps the private one from becoming a private matter.
